During a combat clearance operation in Borno State’s north-east on Thursday, Nigerian troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force killed six Boko Haram insurgents and arrested them.
According to reports, the army ambushed the terrorists as they travelled along the Molai-Damboa Road toward Sambisa Forest, carrying substantial amounts of supplies.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region, confirmed the incident on Thursday. He said the troops successfully intercepted the terrorists gunning down six on the spot, capturing one alive while the rest escaped.
“The troops recovered AK-47 rifles, several bicycles, and large quantities of logistics.
”Molai is an outskirt and located about 10 km drive from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.”
Recall, on August 22, 2023, News Central reported that more than 100 terrorists from both Boko Haram and the ISWAP were neutralised as a result of internal clashes that broke out near Marte, Borno State.
The insurgents and the Bakoura Buduma-led Boko Haram faction engaged in combat for control of territory around the Lake Chad Basin.
