According to Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, troops from Operation Hadin Kai have killed 14 insurgents and arrested 15 others in the last two weeks.

Maj.Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, Director, Defence Media Operations, stated this on Thursday while briefing journalists in Abuja.

According to Onyeuko, the achievement followed military operations in Nigeria’s North-East region between May 19 and June 2.

He explained that on May 22, troops working with the Civilian Joint Task Force killed terrorists at Ndakaine, Jango, Sabah, Amdaga, Balazola, and Gobara in Borno’s Gwoza Local Government Area.

The hideouts of Boko Haram and the Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the area were leveled and cleared during the encounter, according to Onyeuko.

He also stated that soldiers recovered a dump truck from the Borno State Road Maintenance Agency.

The terrorists fled due to the troops’ superior firepower, while the army recovered 40 sheep.

“Cumulatively, troops recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, five AK-56 rifles, two FN rifles, 227 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, seven AK 47 magazines and one PKM gun.

“Troops also rescued 100 family members of terrorists, who included 33 women.

“Troops also neutralised 14 terrorists and arrested 15.”

This is coming barely three weeks after ISWAP insurgents ambushed a police convoy in Kaga LGA of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria, killing two security personnel and injuring others.
