The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that, in the third quarter of this year, troops from the Armed Forces, in collaboration with other security agencies, neutralised 1,937 terrorists, arrested 2,782 suspects, and rescued 1,854 kidnapped individuals.
Additionally, 65 terrorist commanders were eliminated in combat operations.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, highlighted the neutralisation of key terrorist leaders, including Munzir Arika, Sani Dilla (Dan Hausawan Jubillaram), Ameer Modu, Matawal Bitrus, Thomas Benedict, Mohammed Sani, Rimamy (aka Omo), Terkimbi Injoko, Jacob Uzege, and Ibn Kasir.
Other high-profile terrorists eliminated include Kachalla Dan Baleri, Kachallah Halilu (Buzu), Kachalla Dan Ali Garin Fadama, Kachalla Basiru Zakarriya, and Ofem Emmanuel Igwe.
Buba also reported that troops recovered 1,304 weapons, 43,347 rounds of ammunition, and disrupted oil theft activities, preventing losses estimated at over N13 billion.
He further stated that with continued support from state governments, the military would intensify its efforts to combat terrorists and violent extremists until they are fully neutralised.
