Nigerian Troops Neutralise Over 250 Terrorists, Rescue Hostages

In a resolute display of strength, Nigerian troops have successfully neutralised 254 terrorists, apprehended 264 suspects involved in terrorist activities, and detained 104 individuals engaged in oil theft. Additionally, they liberated 73 kidnapped hostages from captivity.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, conveyed this achievement in a statement issued on Friday, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian military to safeguarding the nation.

Operating primarily in the South-South region, the Nigerian troops thwarted attempts at oil theft, preventing the loss of an estimated sum totaling Two Billion Six Hundred and Two Million Nine Hundred and Two Thousand and Eight Hundred Naira (N2,602,902,800.00).

Furthermore, the soldiers seized an impressive cache of weaponry, including 378 assorted weapons and 4,705 ammunition rounds. The inventory, as detailed in the statement, comprises a wide array of firearms, explosives, and other illicit materials meticulously listed to include AK47 rifles, FN rifles, SMGs, locally fabricated guns, pump-action guns, pistols, and hand grenades, among others.

In addition to the weapons haul, the troops uncovered and dismantled 131 dugout pits, 70 boats, 125 storage tanks, and various equipment used in illegal refining activities. They also confiscated a significant quantity of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products.

Major General Buba affirmed the military’s unwavering resolve to combat criminal activities across the nation, emphasising the paramount importance of securing the country and protecting its citizens from harm.
