Seven suspected insurgents have been eliminated by Nigerian Army troops in Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria.

Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of army public relations, said in a statement that during a clearance operation at Maidaro, Kagi Hill, Kusharki, and Anguwan Madaki in Birnin Gwari local government, the soldiers of One Division neutralised four of the suspected terrorists.

With the assistance of the Nigerian Air Force, a different fighting patrol unit from One Division carried out a separate operation along Sabon Birnin-Zartake, Ungwan Lima Riyawa, and Tungan Madaki General Area and neutralised three suspected insurgents who were fleeing from Kagi Hill.

The troops found two AK-47 rifles with two 7.62mm special rounds each, one automatic pump action gun with three ammunition, six Dane rifles, three locally made pistols with one 9mm round each, and four motorcycles.

Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Chief of Army Staff, has praised the soldiers for their valiant efforts and urged them to keep going until terrorism and other crimes are put an end to.

Similar to this, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, General Officer Commanding, One Division Nigerian Army, and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, is pleading with the public to continue providing military personnel and other security agencies with reliable and useful information that will aid in the fight against criminal elements.

This comes after President Muhammadu Buhari summoned security chiefs to an emergency meeting in Abuja.

The meeting was amidst warnings of potential terrorist attacks in the capital of Nigeria. The US and UK advised their people to leave Abuja as a result of the development, which spread panic.

The nation’s capital is safe, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Baba Ahmed said following the occurrence, denying any threats of assaults.
