The Nigerian Government has announced that Nigerians earning as little as N30,000 per month will be eligible to access its planned 77,400 housing units across 777 local government areas nationwide.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, revealed this during a meeting with a delegation from Creative Sphere Limited in Abuja.
He explained that the Renewed Hope Social Housing Programme is specifically aimed at providing affordable homes for low-income earners in Nigeria.
Dangiwa confirmed that 80 percent of the housing units would be allocated to low-income earners, while the remaining 20 percent would be provided free of charge to the nation’s poorest citizens.
He further assured that the project would be launched soon, with completion expected within a year.

Additionally, he noted that 100 housing units would be constructed in each of Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
“The federal government plans to construct 100 housing units in each of the 774 local government areas across the country, amounting to a total of 77,400 units. The construction is expected to be completed within one year from the date of launch.
“Anyone earning as low as N30,000 per month will be able to purchase a house, as they will only need to pay N10,000 monthly, which is one-third of their earnings. Similarly, someone earning N90,000 will pay N30,000.
“The remaining 20 percent of the housing units will be allocated free of charge to citizens with low or no income, such as widows, orphans, and others identified as vulnerable in society,” he stated.
