Nigeria’s Air Peace management says it has acquired another Embraer E195-E2 it ordered for, according to its chairman Allen Onyema who made this known in a statement by Stanley Olisa, the airline’s corporate communication officer.
This is the second Embraer E195-E2, the airline is acquiring as the first Embraer aircraft was acquired in late January.
The aircraft was delivered at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport in Nigeria capital, Abuja.
The Chairman, Mr Onyema said that the airline capacity had declined for sometimes.
The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic have impeded maintenance works on many of the aircraft in countries that are still observing lockdowns over the pandemic. He however said that before the end of July, all the aircraft would be back in Nigeria.
Onyeama also said that the airline is not the only airline that was affected by the pandemic and Nigeria is not insusceptible to things that have tried to decimate the aviation industry worldwide.
The Chairman added that almost 20 Air Peace’s aircraft are currently under maintenance globally due to the adverse effects of COVID-19.
He added that some of the countries where the planes are currently undergoing maintenance are at various levels of lockdown which has hampered the airlines work pace.
The Chairman also said other airlines are experiencing the same problems both locally and internationally due to the global pandemic.
This is reaffirming IATA’s CEO Alexandre De Juniac position that the aviation industry is still experiencing losses in 2021, due to the second wave among other factors.
However, Onyeama noted that before the end of the seventh month, all the planes in maintenance will be brought back.
The goal of Air Peace is to continue to provide a smooth connection to passengers both locally and internationally is alive.
Started in 2014, the airline has over 25 fleets and plans to provide employment to over 7,000 Nigerians.
