The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) Thursday re-arrested the former Registrar of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Dibu Ojerinde.
The arrest occurred shortly after a hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Ojerinde has been standing trial on an 18-count charge of diverting public funds, amounting to N5 billion.
It was gathered that the latest arrest was not connected to the fresh facts emerging from his ongoing trial and made by the fourth prosecution witness, Jimoh Olabisi, the former JAMB Deputy Director of Finance.
The ICPC apprehended Ojerinde as he was being led out of the court by one of his sons. It is not clear if the arrest is connected to new evidence emerging from the ongoing trial.
A warrant of arrest was obtained from the Chief Judge of the FHC, Justice John Tsoho. Ojerinde pleaded not guilty to all charges and was admitted to bail for N200 million.
