Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in Nigeria, has urged newly decorated Brigadier Generals to view their elevation as a recognition of their hard work and exceptional dedication to duty. The advice was given during the investiture ceremony where Colonels were promoted to the rank of Brigadier Generals at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
General Lagbaja emphasised that the newly promoted senior officers had demonstrated significant effort to justify their elevation and prove their suitability for the new rank. He encouraged them to uphold high standards and remain loyal to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the President, and the Nigerian Army (NA).
The COAS directed the newly promoted officers to actively contribute to the implementation of his Command Philosophy, which focuses on transforming the NA into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force to fulfill constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment.
Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, speaking on behalf of the newly decorated senior officers, expressed gratitude to God for the elevation in their chosen career. He thanked the COAS and other top brass of the NA for their mentorship and guidance, acknowledging the prayers and support of their spouses and personnel.
On behalf of the newly promoted officers, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu pledged absolute loyalty to the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the leadership of the NA.
The event’s highlight was the decoration of the Chief of Staff to the COAS, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, by the Army Chief.
