Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is currently being briefed by heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a Facebook post, the President’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, says those in attendance are the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, the Ministers of Defence, (Bashir Magashi); Justice (Abubakar Malami); Police Affairs (Maigari Dingyadi); Interior (Rauf Aregbesola); and Foreign Affairs, (Geoffrey Onyeama).
Attendees at the meeting are expected to brief the President on the current security situation across the country as well as proffer solutions.
The meeting comes a day after four persons were killed in the north-central Plateau State as security agencies and authorities continue to seek solutions to quell unrest in the area.
Security agencies also say they have been carrying out offensive raids in the north-western state of Zamfara where telecommunications services have been turned off as part of efforts to end banditry in the area.
