Nigeria's Defence Minister Praises Troops for Securing Kaduna State

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has commended the efforts of troops in enhancing security in Kaduna State, northwestern Nigeria, particularly in making the Kaduna/Birnin Gwari road safer.

During a two-day operational visit to Kaduna, the Minister visited several military formations, including the Headquarters of Sub-Sector 3 Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma Birnin Gwari, the 1 Division Area of Responsibility, Pole Wire Military Camp, and the Air Training Command of the Nigeria Air Force.

Badaru expressed his gratitude to the troops for their resilience and dedication, which have led to notable improvements in security in Birnin Gwari.

“For the last six months, we have not heard of any kidnapping or ambush of civilians, aside from one or two engagements with bandits by the troops. This is commendable, and I thank you on behalf of Mr. President, who is aware of the good work and has asked me to encourage you to continue and end the menace of banditry and other forms of criminalities,” he said.

The Minister emphasised that his visit aimed to boost the morale of the troops and assess their operational capacity and coordination to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. He acknowledged the significant security achievements in Birnin Gwari and urged the troops to continue their efforts. He further highlighted the importance of their work.

In response, representatives of the troops pledged their ongoing commitment to combating insurgency and banditry. Brigadier-General SS Shehu, Chief of Staff, Section 1, assured the Minister of the division’s determination to tackle terrorist threats effectively.

Additionally, Lt. Col. A Abdullahi, the Commanding Officer of Sub-Sector 3 Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma Birnin Gwari, vowed to maintain professionalism and uphold security standards in the region.
