Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic recovery, attributing progress to the policies and commitment of President Bola Tinubu. He noted that the administration is laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth despite ongoing challenges.
Speaking on Saturday during a one-day retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in Abuja, Shettima highlighted key achievements, including an increase in crude oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of the nation. We all want to bequeath to the younger generation a united and progressive country,” the Vice President said.
He assured participants that the economy is on the rise, stating, “Yes, the economy has and is experiencing challenges but we have turned the corner. As of now, we are producing 1.8 million barrels of oil per day. The economy is on an upward trajectory and I believe in the new year, the economy will grow in leaps and bounds.”
Shettima urged aides to foster teamwork and contribute to achieving the administration’s goals. “The country is greater than all of us. I urge you, let’s work as a team and as a family,” he added.
Deputy Chief of Staff to the Vice President, Ibrahim Hassan-Hadejia, explained that the retreat aimed to enhance strategic communication, streamline project funding, and improve collaboration with government ministries, departments, and agencies.
Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, praised the efforts of aides but called for further improvements in communication and synergy across the presidency.
Dr. Aliyu Moddibo, Special Adviser to the President on General Duties, urged participants to remain focused, humble, and committed. “We need to deliver on the difficult task ahead. The priority is the work,” he said.
