Enyimba is set to play against two Egyptian teams, Zamalek and Al Masry, in the group stage as they aim to become the first Nigerian team to win the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Mozambican team Black Bulls were placed in Group D following the draw that took place at the Confederation of African Football offices in Cairo on Monday.
Enyimba has been the most successful Nigerian club in CAF competitions, clinching consecutive Champions League and Super Cup titles between 2003 and 2005. However, the second Super Cup victory marked the last time a Nigerian club lifted a CAF trophy.
Enyimba, based in the southeastern city of Aba, did not impress in the qualifying rounds for the group phase, managing two goalless draws against Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante before securing victory on penalties.
Zamalek is expected to top the group, with Masry and Enyimba likely to compete for the second spot and a place in the quarter-finals.
Simba, the first Tanzanian club to be among the top seeds in a CAF group draw, has been placed in Group A with three-time title-holders CS Sfaxien from Tunisia.
Algerian team CS Constantine, which has a perfect record in Africa this season with four qualifying wins, and Angolan side Bravos Maquis will also face Simba.
South African club Stellenbosch, one of six debutants in the group stage, is in Group B with Renaissance Berkane, a Moroccan club that has reached four of the last six finals, winning two.
The team from a rugby union stronghold near Cape Town will also face 2009 winners Stade Malien from Mali and Lunda Sul from Angola.
The Confederation Cup is Africa’s equivalent of the UEFA Europa League.
