Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has closed down the widespread speculations that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, might expel him for anti-party activities.
While speaking in an interview on Channels Television Wednesday, Wike said he was yet to see any member of the party with the nerve to suspend him for whatever reasons. This response came after he was asked about the possibility that he could be suspended for working with President Tinubu of the All Progressives Party (APC), while fully belonging fully the PDP.
“How can anyone talk about expelling me? With all due respect, I have not seen that person. Nobody will do it. So, the issue that they will do it does not arise,” he said.
The FCT Minister and immediate past Rivers State governor also said he accepted an appointment in the APC-led government to work closely with President Bola Tinubu as an individual, and not as a political party member.
“Governance is not about party. Party is a vehicle that conveys you. I am a PDP member; an unrepentant one.
“I never hid my intention. As a PDP member, I came out to support fairness, equity, and justice.
“I am not here to work for a party. I am here to support the president, who has confidence in me. I owe nobody an apology,’’ he stated.
Wike and 44 other ministers were sworn in by president Tinubu on Monday, August 21 2023 at the Conference Centre of the State House, Abuja.
