The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, will spearhead a nationwide prayer initiative to seek divine assistance for the country’s economic difficulties.
Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, the Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced this in an Abuja statement. Afolorunikan said that the 2024 national prayer will revolve around “Seeking God’s Intervention in Nigeria’s Affairs.”
This prayer event, organised in collaboration with Christian and Muslim leaders, seeks spiritual help to address the nation’s challenges. He added that the initiative, in partnership with faith leaders, is designed to fill Nigeria with renewed optimism and purpose in 2025.
“By the conclusion of this prayer gathering, we are hopeful that with God’s guidance, our leaders and citizens will gain the resilience needed to tackle our shared challenges,” Afolorunikan expressed.
The NPF director explained that “Muslims will convene at the National Mosque in Abuja for a week, during which 313 participants will recite the Qur’an, leading to a total recitation of the Holy Text 2,191 times in pursuit of national stability.
“Christians will gather at the National Ecumenical Centre for a week-long commitment to fervent prayer, with prayer warriors from diverse denominations concentrating on the country’s struggles.”
