The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has celebrated the International Day of Families in recognition of the role families play in shaping our communities.
The Senator added that days like this emphasise the need for family love and support.
She described the family as a source for love and support and encouraged Nigerians to hold dear to moments spent with loved ones.
She shared the significance of phone calls, handwritten notes and even shared meals stating that the impact can last a life time. She urged Nigerians to always maintain an attitude of gratitude especially to family members, including grandparents, parents, spouses, children, siblings, and extended family and friends.
“Today, I celebrate all families that are the foundation of our communities and our nation.
“Families share a common thread: the love and support we provide for one another. Our families have been a source of comfort and stability. We have learnt the importance of cherishing the moments we have together, big and small.
“Let us take a moment to appreciate our families and express our gratitude to our grandparents, parents, spouses, children and siblings. Our extended family and friends should not be out, simple phone call, a handwritten note, or a shared meal can make a world of difference.
“Happy International Day of Families,” she said.
