Nigeria’s First Lady Remi Tinubu Hails Workers on May Day

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed appreciation for workers in Nigeria on the occasion of the 2024 Workers Day on May 1.

Senator Remi acknowledged the immense contributions of the nation’s workforce, noting their dedication, resilience, and innovation.

She saluted various groups such as teachers, farmers, doctors, nurses, engineers, and others for their roles in nurturing young minds, cultivating the land, safeguarding health, building infrastructure, and contributing to Nigeria’s progress.

The First Lady also called for reflection on ways to become a better and more productive workforce.

Her words as quoted:

“I acknowledge the immense contributions of our nation’s workforce that is renowned for its dedication, resilience, and innovation.

“I therefore salute the teachers who nurture young minds, the farmers who cultivate our land, the doctors and nurses who safeguard our health, the engineers who build our infrastructure, and countless others who dedicate their skills and energy to building a better Nigeria.

“Today, let us not only celebrate work, but also reflect on how we can be a better and more productive workforce.

“On this Workers’ Day, I celebrate the spirit of work with pride. May it continue to be a source of strength, prosperity, and national progress for Nigeria.”

News Central reports that Workers Day, also known as May Day, is celebrated annually on May 1 to acknowledge and honour the substantial contributions of workers, and commemorate the historic labour movement that aimed to promote rights and opportunities for workers.
