The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba led the Nigeria Police delegation to the inaugural World Police Summit holding at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The World Police Summit which commenced March 14, 2022 is a high-level engagement platform with an array of luminaries from intelligence, security, international law enforcement and policing community to melange ideas, examine crime trends, and share innovations with a view to combating the challenges posed by organised crime, rapid population growth, urbanisation and evolving digital technology, amongst others, to public safety and security.
The Summit scheduled to cover the entire law enforcement and policing value chain will provide participants the thought-leadership, direction, strategies and technologies required to augment public safety in the face of growing global security threats, including terrorism, money laundering, and cybercrime.
Closing on March 17, 2022, the World Police Summit will comprise three more conferences centred around anti-narcotics, police innovation & resilience, and K9 capabilities respectively.
There will also be six dedicated exhibition zones throughout this time that showcase the latest crime detection and prevention technologies, products and services to decision-makers and influencers.
The World Police Summit is hosted at the Dubai Exhibition Centre – Expo 2020 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the Ruler of Dubai. Also in attendance is Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The Inspector-General of Police seized the opportunity of the gathering of professionals to establish contacts with his counterparts from other nations to bolster collaboration and partnership in his drive to improve on intelligence-led and ICT-driven policing even as the Nigeria Police occupies a strategic position in the top hierarchy of the INTERPOL with the recent election of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, AIG Garba Umar, as INTERPOL Vice President, Africa.
