Nigeria's Internet Subscribers Reach 164.4m in Q1 2024

A Telecom Data report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed a significant growth in Nigeria’s active internet subscribers. The numbers surged by 4.33% to 164,368,292 in the first quarter of 2024, from 157,551,104 in Q1 2023, marking a substantial increase.

The report states that the total number of active voice subscribers in the first quarter of 2024 dropped from 226,161,713 reported in Q1 2023 to 219,304,281, recording a fall of 2.41%.

Data from the state profile analysis showed that the highest number of active voice subscribers recorded in Q1, 25,956,074, came from Lagos, followed by Ogun, 12,672,990, and Kano, 11,931,128.
The least, 1,608,473, was recorded in Bayelsa, followed by Ebonyi, 1,885,657, and Ekiti, 1,969,568.

The number of active internet subscribers in Q1 2024 came from Lagos with 18,841,943, followed by Ogun and Kano with 9,528,795 and 9,067,983, respectively.
The least came from Bayelsa with 1,201,601, followed by Ebonyi and Ekiti with 1,401,626 and 1,545,729, respectively.

It should be noted that the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC) generates the industrial data in Nigeria’s telecom sector.
