Nigeria’s Legal Landscape Gets 87 New Senior Advocates

Nigeria’s Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC), chaired by Chief Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, has approved conferring the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria on 87 legal practitioners.

A statement issued by Hajo Sarki Bello, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, indicates that the swearing-in ceremony for the 87 successful applicants will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024.

During its 164th plenary session on Thursday, the LPPC reviewed five petitions lodged against some applicants and found that all the petitions lacked merit, dismissing each one.

The successful applicants include Monday Ubani, the former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law, and Boonyameen Lawal, a Partner at Babalakin and Co Legal Practitioners.
