Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, was named the winner of the Umaisha-Ugya state constituency in Saturday’s poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), receiving 3,706 votes.
According to Abdullahi Ramalan, the Federal University of Lafia’s returning officer, Abdullahi of the APC, who received the most ballots overall, was declared elected.
He added that Ibrahim Chambo of the SDP received 15, Yahaya Sule of the NNPP received 784, Zakari Muhammed of the NRP received 48, Ibrahim Sa’ad of the PDP received 2,850, and Adamu Mohammed of the ADP received 37 ballots.
He stated that Abdullahi, who was declared the victor and re-elected, had complied with the legislation.
The lawmaker told journalists that his constituents would have greater representation in the state assembly.
He urged his supporters to show generosity as they celebrated, pledging to support his constituents regardless of their political views and other considerations.
