Ahead of its commencing operations, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has revealed that a Nigeria Air aircraft is scheduled to arrive in the country on Friday.

Sirika made this revelation on Channels Television adding that the aircraft will be unveiled in Nigeria’s colours in fulfillment of all the promises made by the administration in the aviation sector.

He further explained that the aerotropolis, which is the airport city and is 60 per cent complete.

According to him, the groundwork has been completed, and are looking to conclude work on the airport city by the next administration.

Sirika had at an aviation stakeholder’s forum in Abuja in March said that Nigeria Air will commence full operations before the end of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Responding to a question on when exactly Nigeria Air will commence operations, the minister had said, “Before the end of this administration, before May 29th, we will fly.”

Earlier Tuesday, Sirika commissioned the first phase of the expanded General Aviation Terminal (GAT) and cargo terminal at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos worth N2.2. Billion.

According to Sirika’s Special Assistant on Media, James Odaudu, the GAT expansion, which was carried out by Messrs Glovesly Pro-Project Limited, would increase the capacity of the terminal from 254 to 1,054.
