Nigeria’s Oldest Health Institution Marks 90th Anniversary in Ibadan

Nigeria’s Oldest Health Institution, OYSCHST, Marks 90th Anniversary

Activities to celebrate Nigeria’s oldest health institution’s 90th anniversary, the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology have been announced.
Moradeke Oluyemisi Oyewo, the institution’s acting provost, stated that 645 National Diploma (ND) certificates were given out at the convocation ceremony which featured the graduation of students from both 2020–2021 and 2021–2022 academic years.

Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde will be present at the event, which will also be attended by alumni from the college from all over the world.


Dr. Aaron Ola Ogundiwin, chairman of the governing council, stated that the anniversary was intended to exhibit the college’s potentials to the globe and raise awareness of the importance of maintaining good health in the state.

He mentioned a few of the events planned for the occasion, including a symposium, student talent shows and cultural activities, athletic competitions amongst alumni, staff members, and students, as well as a ceremony to recognise exceptional staff members.

”On March 31, 2023, there will be an alumni Day/Homecoming event. Following this event will be Founders’ Day services on April 1, 2023, a documentary titled “OYSCHST@90: The Journey So Far,” and a convocation lecture by Prof. Kayode Osungbade, a public health expert from the University of Ibadan, on “Sustaining Qualitative Health Service Delivery in the Midst of Brain Drain Syndrome in Nigeria,” Dr Ogundiwin added.
