The Governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in a meeting yesterday in Abia, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was unfit to take part in the 2023 general elections.
The PDP Governors passed the verdict during one of their regular meetings on Wednesday at the Umuobiakwa country home of its Vice-chairman and Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu.
The opposition Governors further urged Nigerians to outrightly reject the ruling party at the polls, stating that they were incompetent, inhumane and inconsiderate.
“It is a surprise that in the face of these statistics of complete failure in all ramifications and areas, the APC still wants to be on the ballot in 2023,” The forum lamented.
According to them, it is impossible for a party so “disorganised” to offer good governance to the people of Nigeria. They went on to cite instances of price hike in diesel, fuel, kerosene, gas, aviation/air ticket rate, food, amongst others.
“Indeed, the scarcity of fuel which has resulted in loss of several man hours is a disgrace to Nigeria. The collapse of the National Grid (126 times in 7 years – (June 2015 to March 2022) and its consequences of non-availability of power is most unfortunate”. They said.
The governors also noted that Nigerians now find it extremely difficult to take care of their basic human needs of food, shelter and clothing as “prices of basic food stuff and other necessities have now increased three times higher than what they used to be in 2015”.
Some of the PDP Governors who attended the meeting include Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Godwin Obaseki (Edo State), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom State), Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde (Oyo State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta State), Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), amongst others.
Adamawa Governor Umaru Fintiri was absent at the Governors’ Forum. Taraba Governor Darius was represented by his deputy, Haruna Manu.
