The Labour Party of Nigeria strongly refutes any and all claims that they have merged with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the wake of a purported meeting/defection held at Adegbemile hall, Akure on Monday February 13 2023.
The meeting was chaired by the expelled former caretaker state chairman of Ekiti state, Banji Omotoso, and attended by a few dozen people.
The Labour Party emphatically denies any and all rumours that ‘it has merged with the APC, a party which has caused untold hardship and suffering for the country’.
The statement which was released by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Arabambi Abayomi made it crystal clear that Omotoso has been expelled from the party since January 2020 due to gross malfeasance and anti-party activities and no longer has any authority to speak on behalf of the Labour Party in the south.
The Labour Party said it ‘would like to remind the public the highest office holder in the party is the Deputy National Chairman South of the party, Alhaji Lamidi Apapa from Oyo State.
The other public office holders in the party are Bar Akingbade Oyelekan (National Legal Adviser, Osun State), Dr Ayo Olorunfemi (Deputy National Chairman, Ondo State), Mr Roland Gbenga Daramola (National Financial Secretary, Ekiti State) and Dr Arabambi Abayomi (National Publicity Secretary, Ogun State).
The Labour Party urges all citizens of Nigeria to discount any and all information coming from Omotoso and to look to the party’s official representatives for information.
