Nigeria’s House of Representatives has condemned the gruesome murder of a young lady who was apprehended, raped and murdered in Nigeria’s South-South region of Akwa Ibom state.
The murder of Iniobong Umoren who was found to be buried in a shallow grave has sparked nationwide condemnation.
Moving a motion on the floor of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Unyime Edem a lawmaker from her home state said there are fears the family of Miss Umoren might not get Justice.
Edem urged the parliament to direct the Head of Nigeria’s Police force to ensure the protection of the family of the deceased as there are reports that they are already receiving death threats.
He adds that news making the rounds indicate that there is fear the suspect arrested by the Police might be released soon.
