Nigeria's President Tinubu Lauds Religious Groups for Promoting Peace, Unity

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended religious organisations, particularly the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), for their role in fostering peace and tolerance across the nation. Speaking at the African Lutheran Church Leadership Consultation in Abuja, Tinubu highlighted the church’s significant contributions toward unifying the country during challenging times.

Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, the president praised the Lutheran Church’s dedication to promoting harmony and understanding among diverse communities in Nigeria.

Rev. Dr. Yonas Dibisa, Vice-President for Africa of the Lutheran World Federation, emphasised the value of sharing experiences to find solutions that deepen unity. He called for stronger cooperation among religious bodies in addressing the nation’s pressing challenges.

Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), urged the church to continue being agents of positive change, advocating for unity over division in their communities. He called for sustained efforts in fostering harmony and societal transformation.

Rev. Musa Panti Filibus, Archbishop of the LCCN, echoed these sentiments, describing the event as a testament to the church’s commitment to unity in diversity. He reaffirmed the LCCN’s dedication to maintaining peace and encouraging dialogue among different groups within Nigeria.
