President Bola Tinubu is anticipated to submit the list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for review this week, barring any unforeseen changes.

According to the law, the President has 60 days from the day he takes the oath of office to send the National Assembly the list of ministerial nominees.

Tinubu’s administration was inaugurated on May 29, when former President Muhammadu Buhari handed over the mantle of leadership to him.

The President has approximately 10 days to form his cabinet under the constitutional provision of 60 days.

There have been changes to the list of nominees for ministerial positions, according to sources close to the presidency.

Under the condition of anonymity, a source in the Presidency said: “The list of ministerial nominees has been ready since, but the President has made some changes in some states.

“The list is expected to be forwarded to the National Assembly between Wednesday and Thursday, except if there is any development that could delay it further.

“The President is supposed to constitute his cabinet by July 26. So, I am sure that the list will be sent to the Senate this week.”

As the President continues to keep Nigerians guessing about who will be on the list and whether there will be a government of national unity as some have speculated, various purported ministerial lists have been in circulation.

President Tinubu alone has the power to choose who and when to include on the list of nominees to be submitted to the National Assembly, according to recent comments made by the president’s spokesman, Dele Alake.

Alake promised that the list would be made public before the 60-day deadline.
