Nigeria’s Separatist Group IPOB Distances Itself from 5-Day Sit-at-Home

After a video calling for a five-day sit-in throughout “Biafra territory” from December 9–14, 2022, went viral online, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) distanced themselves from the message.

Due to the fact that the pro-Biafra movement has declared that it has not ordered any boycott of the 2023 elections, eligible voters have been encouraged to go ahead and get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) without apprehension.

A voice in a video that has gone viral says that anyone caught outside in “Biafra territory” during the lockdown will be killed.

However, IPOB quickly responded by distancing themselves from the video, claiming it was the product of sponsored agents of evil trying to undermine the Biafran freedom movement.

In a statement released on Tuesday, IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful said that the video’s creators and backers were paid by opponents of Biafra to sow fear in the area and turn the populace against IPOB.

To the people of Biafra, friends of Biafra, and lovers of Biafra freedom, “IPOB, under the command and leadership of our great prophet and indefatigable liberator Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wishes to state unequivocally that IPOB leadership did not issue any sit-at-home order on the 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th of December 2022.”

It advised people to disregard the order and continue their normal lives without fear of reprisal.

Because we are neither criminals, idiots, nor unemployed, IPOB never issued any sit-at-home commands on the days listed above.

“Every Biafran and inhabitant of Biafra Land should disregard such a command from uninformed and dimwitted persons whose goal is to make the Biafra movement unappealing to our people. Every citizen of Biafra is expected to go on with their regular routines on such days.

This is a critical time of year when people are trying to catch up in their businesses, and IPOB is concerned that a 5-day straight sit-at-home edict will make things difficult for them.

One Nigerian agent and his backers came up with the idea of a five-day sit-in to demonstrate how evil and hateful they are against the Nigerian people. Their goal is to make life so difficult for the people of Biafra that they give up on their independence.

IPOB has threatened violence against anybody who tries to carry out the alleged home-bound order.

Our people should be ready to oppose any knucklehead who tries to impose such a terrible sit-in on them. Even more so, ESN operatives and IPOB volunteers will be active on these occasions to guard our people and the marketplace.

Biafran youths should be prepared to fight against anybody who tries to shut their shops on these days.

Idiots issuing the sit-at-home order have no chance of success since the IPOB leadership has never given anybody the authority to issue an order of this nature in Biafraland.

Without worry, our people may go about their daily lives and work. With the help of IPOB, the propagandists and their foot troops in Biafra territory are now on the defensive.

By the grace of Elohim, we must leave this prison called Nigeria as the restoration of Biafra progresses successfully.

Further, IPOB said that it had not ordered a boycott of the 2023 elections and urged eligible voters to go out and get their PVCs so that they may perform their civic duties at the polls.

Again, everyone has the right to go to their voting and registration centres and pick up their PVC without interference. IPOB is unrelated to the chaos that has engulfed Nigeria’s elections.
