Nigeria’s Solid Minerals Minister Highlights First-Year Successes in New Publication

Nigeria’s Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, has launched a compendium detailing his achievements during his first year in office. The publication, Alake On Rescue Mission, highlights the minister’s initiatives and reforms to revitalise Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

The launch event, held in Abuja, featured remarks from Mr. Tunde Rahman, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu. Rahman described the compendium as a comprehensive account of the minister’s work, emphasising its significance beyond mere visuals.

Senator Abubakar Bagudu, Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, praised Dr. Alake’s efforts, which align with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda for economic diversification. He urged Nigerians to be patient with ongoing economic reforms, noting their long-term benefits and commending Dr. Alake for effectively communicating these policies. He highlighted the minister’s dedication to gaining public support for the administration’s economic measures.

Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), pledged continued support in promoting the ministry’s objectives. He committed to shaping a positive image of Nigeria and publicising the ministry’s successes.

Mr. Obadiah Nkom, Director General of the Nigerian Mining Cadastral Office, commended Dr. Alake’s strategic policies and noted their impact on revenue generation in the mining sector.

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, also spoke about the compendium, describing it as a detailed account of the minister’s transformative work. He noted that it covers Dr Alake’s achievements, including foreign investment reports and media engagements aimed at boosting the mining industry.

Reflecting on his first year, Dr Dele Alake said the compendium aligns with President Tinubu’s vision of a fair and prosperous Nigeria. Key achievements highlighted include the creation of Mining Marshals to regulate illegal mining activities and the launch of the Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support software, a digital platform designed to facilitate investment in the sector.
