Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, have maintained their 36th position in the most recent global ranking by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The Falcons have also secured their position as the highest-ranked women’s football team in Africa, based on the latest rankings released on Friday.
This ranking follows their underwhelming performance at the Summer Olympics Women’s football event in Paris, France.
Despite their efforts, the Falcons were unable to advance to the quarterfinals after experiencing three consecutive defeats, including a 1-0 loss to both Brazil and Spain and a significant 3-1 defeat to Japan. As a result, they finished at the bottom of Group
In the African rankings, Nigeria is trailed by South Africa (50th), Morocco (59th), Zambia (62nd), and Ghana (66th).
The United States womens football team are the top-ranked team globally.
