Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has sent a message to Nigeria’s President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, congratulating him on his 71st birthday and wishing him good health and wisdom as he takes on the significant responsibility of governing Nigeria.
Osinbajo expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s years of service and contributions to Lagos state, the nation, and the ruling political party, APC. He also prayed that the Lord would help Tinubu in his new assignment, providing him with the strength, health, and wisdom to serve the country and its people excellently.
Osinbajo said: “We thank the Almighty God for his grace and enablement upon your life that has made possible your many years of service and contributions to Lagos State, our nation and our great party.
“This occasion of your 71st birthday is unique, as it occurs as you prepare to take on your most significant assignment yet as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
“That the Lord will help you in this assignment and give you good health, strength and wisdom to serve our people and our nation excellently.”
In a related development, Dr. Adeyinka Olarinmoye of Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo has extolled Tinubu in an interview with The Matrix Newspaper.
Olarinmoye commended Tinubu’s significant accomplishments in various spheres of life. She fondly recalled his exceptional contributions to education during his tenure as Lagos State Governor, which won her support for his presidential bid even before he declared his intention to run for the position.
Olarinmoye served as the Director of Education for the Independent Campaign Council, Tinubu/Shettima and Sanwoolu/Hamzat, and praised Tinubu for his outstanding performance as Lagos State’s administrator between 1999 and 2007. She cited his detribalised policies, such as giving free WAEC forms to all secondary school students, regardless of their ethnicity, as well as his contributions to the development of Lagos State University, which led to its ranking among the best state universities in Nigeria.
“…And he hasn’t stopped! With a billion-naira donation, for the establishment of the Center for Leadership Study, at the last convocation of the University. It was the template he left that successive governors have continued to build on,” she stated.
Olarinmoye concluded by wishing Tinubu a successful tenure as the President of the nation and urged him to prioritise the concerns of women and youth in his administration while involving academics and researchers from the intelligentsia in his governance plans.
