Nigeria's Vice President Shettima Calls for Enhanced Dedication from Leaders

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasised the importance of leaders renewing their dedication to service at all levels, particularly amidst the ongoing challenges faced by Nigerians.

Addressing attendees in Abuja on Saturday during the 38th Anniversary of the Shiekh Ibrahim Niass Alkaulakhy National Maulud, Vice President Shettima was accompanied by notable figures including Shiekh Muhammad Sanusi II, Sautul Faida Shiekh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, and Minister for Budget and Economic Planning Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.

This year’s commemoration, marking the 38th National Maulud anniversary, coincides with the birth of Prophet Muhammad and includes prayers for the peace and unity of Nigeria.

In his speech titled “Serving Humanity,” VP Shettima underscores the significance of embracing the spirit of serving humanity, stating that the event is “an invitation to renew our commitment to embody the spirit of serving humanity.”

He reassured the audience that the path ahead is one of righteousness and expressed gratitude for the endurance and understanding shown by citizens.

Delving into the teachings of the Holy Prophet regarding the duties of leaders, VP Shettima highlights the sacred space where the responsibilities of faith and political leaders intersect.

He emphasised the shared purpose of promoting the welfare of the people and the power of unity among leaders in effecting positive change, regardless of the circumstances.

VP Shettima urged members of major religious groups to actively seek understanding and bridge divides, calling them to be voices of reason and agents of positive transformation.

He stressed the importance of tolerance and collaboration in shaping Nigeria into an inclusive and progressive nation, emphasising that no individual is immune to the consequences of societal challenges.

“Regardless of one’s position at the religious or ethnic table, the undeniable reality is that none of us remains immune to the repercussions of chaos, poverty, or insecurity,” VP Shettima added.
