Maryam Albishir, the mother-in-law of Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima, passed away on Sunday evening in Kano at the age of 69 after a long illness.
On Monday morning, a statement titled “VP Shettima’s Mother-In-Law Passes Away” was released by the Vice President’s spokesperson, Mr. Stanley Nkwocha. He announced the death of Maryam Albishir, mother-in-law of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to Nkwocha, Hajiya Maryam, mother of the Vice President’s wife, Hajiya Nana Shettima, will be buried on Monday afternoon in Kano, in line with the customs of Islam.
“She was esteemed for her wisdom, compassion, and commitment to charitable causes. Many remember her as a source of guidance and support, both within her family and in the wider community in Kano,” a statement from the Presidency noted.
