Nigeria’s National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced a significant milestone, enrolling a total of 107,338,440 individuals for the National Identity Number (NIN).
Engr. Odusote Cocker, the Director General of the Commission, unveiled this achievement during a press briefing in Abuja, highlighting the remarkable progress achieved during her one-year tenure.
She emphasised that the figure witnessed an impressive increase of 3.2 million, rising from 104 million in December 2023 to the current 107 million enrollees.
Cocker underscored the Commission’s commitment to not only streamlining the enrollment process but also implementing various measures to enhance efficiency. These include system cleanup initiatives, adoption of advanced technology to upgrade equipment, capacity building for staff, and crackdowns on scammers and extortionists.
With the expansion of enrollment centres and a dedicated staff of 3,656, Cocker aims to set an ambitious target of enrolling 200 million individuals upon the completion of system upgrades and the equipping of all NIMC centres.
