The Labour Party (LP) has appointed former Finance Minister Senator Nnenadi Usman as the Chairman of the party’s 29-member National Caretaker Committee.
Senator Usman’s election to this crucial position is a result of her long-standing involvement in Nigerian politics, having previously served as a Senator representing the Kaduna South Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and later defecting to the LP in the 2023 general election.
This decision was made during an extended stakeholders’ meeting of the Labour Party, which took place on Wednesday, September 4, at the Banquet Hall of the Abia State Government House in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State.
The Labour Party’s Presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, delivered the announcement of Usman’s appointment.
The former finance minister in her acceptance speech, highlighted the importance of unity within the party. She assured members that she would perform her duties with dedication and care.
