The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has hinted that the Warri refinery is currently loading eight trucks of kerosene and fuel every day.
The NNPCL said that this was because activities were purposefully halted on January 25.
On Friday, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the NNPCL, revealed this while refuting reports of an explosion at the Warri plant.
According to a statement from Soneye, there was no evidence of an explosion at the refinery facility.
“The Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company did not experience an explosion, as NNPC Ltd would like to make clear. He declared, “Any reports implying otherwise are wholly untrue.

“On January 25, 2025, operations at WRPC Area 1 were purposefully halted to perform necessary intervention works on a few pieces of equipment, including field instruments that were affecting stable and sustainable operations,” he revealed.
Soneye said, “These intervention works are essential to ensure the production of finished and intermediate products on specification, particularly automotive gas oil and kerosene.”
According to the NNPC spokesperson, the planned routine maintenance is proceeding according to schedule, and Area 1 will resume operations in the coming days.
He did, however, report that the trucks continued to be loaded despite the ongoing intrusions.
“Over the past 11 days, AGO loading has been kept at an average of eight trucks per day, despite continuous interventions, with a sufficient supply available to support ongoing truck load-out operations.
“As it completes these crucial maintenance tasks, NNPC Ltd. is dedicated to guaranteeing a continuous supply of products and values the collaboration and patience of all parties involved, he continued.”
