Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. popularly known as Shatta Wale has warned politicians not to use his brand for politics.
The CEO of Shatta Movement Family, and one of the big things to have ever happened to Ghanaian Music industry, has vehemently warned politicians not to use his brand, or pictures for political campaigns and political strategies.
The Ghanaian recording artiste took to his twitter to warn people against using his brand indiscriminately.
He went ahead to say that he and his fans will support and cooperate with whoever Ghanaians elect as their president.
”Myself and my loyal fans will support and cooperate with any persons who Ghanaians elect as their president…”
He asked anyone who wished to seek further clarifications or explanations to contact his office.
It is no news that politicians sometimes rely on entertainers to help them with campaigning, as they know that their campaign would mean more votes from the younger generation. Election year only means one thing, political parties will give their all to see that they win the election. With the use of influencers, public figures and celebrities are a step ahead of their fellow aspirants who are not paying celebrities and influencers to campaign for them.
People have speculated that the reason why Shatta Wale is take away his brand from the 2020 election is because he finds himself in a very tight corner as his father is affiliated with the NDC party, making Shatta Wale a strong National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter. Also, the current president of Ghana; Nana Akuffo Addo is a lover of Shatta Wale and his music, and in return, Shatta Wale respects the Commander- in- chief of the Ghanaian Armed Forces, who belongs to the New Patriotic Party.
Already, Shatta Wale fans are sitting on the fence, as they are finding it hard to decide which party to support, considering the fact that President Akufo-Addo sent Shatta Wale a congratulatory message on twitter recently saying, ”@shattawalegh, you do all!!!” in reaction to Shatta Wale’s feature in Beyoncé’s ”Black is king” movie.
Again, speculations are that, Shatta Wale asking politicians not to campaign with his brand or picture will force political parties to approach him formally to perform at their campaign grounds, of course with their money. Making it a win-win situation for both sides.
