Nokia and Dell Collaborate to Propel Private 5G and Cloud Solutions

Nokia and Dell Technologies have unveiled a strategic partnership aimed at spearheading the deployment of private 5G networks and facilitating seamless network integration with cloud environments, as outlined in a joint statement released on Thursday.

These private 5G networks, typically owned, operated, or leased by individual organisations, are set to revolutionise connectivity standards across various sectors, heralding a new era of technological advancement.

According to the statement, customers leveraging Nokia AirFrame, the telecommunications giant’s cloud-centric data centre business, will transition to Dell’s purpose-built PowerEdge servers, meticulously crafted for modern telecom network workloads.

Furthermore, Nokia’s Digital Automation Cloud (NDAC) is slated to emerge as Dell’s preferred private wireless platform, tailored to meet the distinct needs of enterprise clientele.

Going beyond their existing partnership, the collaboration between these tech titans will focus on integrating NDAC with Dell’s NativeEdge software platform. This integration aims to drive the evolution of open network architectures within the telecommunications sphere, fostering wider adoption of private 5G solutions among enterprises.

Elucidating the concept of open network architecture, which facilitates interoperability between products from different vendors, the statement underscored its pivotal role in promoting seamless integration and compatibility.

Nishant Batra, Nokia’s chief strategy and technology officer, expressed confidence in the collaboration’s capacity to address evolving customer demands amidst the escalating pressures on networks.

Batra stated, “Our continued collaboration with Dell will help address the future needs of our customers brought on by the increasing demands on networks and provide solutions to help communications service providers scale modern networks to the cloud.”

In addition to their joint endeavours in research and development, including platform and application testing at the Dell Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab, both companies reiterated their unwavering commitment to innovation, poised to navigate the dynamic landscape of telecommunications and cloud computing.
