Kayode Kasum’s comedy-drama, “Ajosepo” is sitting in the number one spot at the Nigerian box office, the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) has revealed.
CEAN published an official report on the top 20 Nollywood films released in Nigeria on Friday, April 19, 2024, which included a complete view of each film of the week from April 12, 2024, to April 18, 2024.
Raking in ₦51.9 million in its first week, the movie has now made a total of ₦79 million and has become a favourite movie for most audiences.
“Ajosepo” is a story that digs deeper into the lives of the young couple Dapo and Tani played by Mike Afolarin and Tomike Adeoya preparing for their wedding.
In the process of both families coming together, the joy of the festivities soon gives way to chaos as family tensions, revelations and secrets shake their relationship.
The movie also stars Timini Egbuson, Yemi Solade, and Ronke Oshodi Oke.
Sitting at number two on the chart, “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire earned” ₦34.6 million in the previous week. So far, the movie has made ₦180 million.
At the number 3 spot, we have the Yoruba epic film “Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju)” which garnered a total of ₦34.2 million that week. The film has now gathered a total of ₦217.2 million at the box office.
Another movie on the chart, “Saving Onome”, was directed by Dimeji Ajibola. The story is about two parents who go the extra mile to care for their ill daughter Onome. The film raked in ₦8.9 million in the previous week.
Others on the list include; All is Fair in Love, which garnered ₦26,000, totalling N131 million, Insecure, which raked in ₦51,000, totalling ₦28.7 million, and Meeting Funmi’s Parents, which brought in ₦86,000, totalling ₦36.4 million at the box office.
