Nollywood veteran actress, Madam Elizabeth Evoeme, fondly remembered as Ovularia from the 1980s TV sitcom “The New Masquerade,” has passed away.
The demise of the 81-year-old was formally announced in a statement released by her family. It has been reported that she died in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The statement read, “Friends, fans, colleagues, the family of the legendary actress, Elizabeth Lizzy Evoeme, would like to notify the public, all those who loved her and her work in ‘The new Masquerade,’ of her passing.
“Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme will be dearly missed and was extremely loved by her family and also by you, her fans.
“We thank you all for your support and for respecting our privacy at this time. God bless you all and may our dear Elizabeth ‘Ovularia’ Evoeme rest in perfect peace, now and always.”
On November 5, 2019, rumours circulated regarding the actress’s demise, but her colleague, Chika Okpala, known for his role as Chief Zebrudaya Okoroigwe Nwaogbe in the sitcom, refuted it. Nevertheless, details surrounding Ovularia’s passing remain unknown.
