Aggrieved youths under the aegis of the Northern Nigerian Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF), Benue State Chapter, have expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in parts of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Coordinator of the forum, Comrade Martin Zoho, the group appealed to the Federal Government to act decisively and deploy all necessary security agencies to bring an end to the spate of killings and violence.
The statement reads:
“We the members of the Northern Nigerian Youth Leaders Forum, Benue State Chapter wishes to register our displeasure on the deteriorating security situation in some part of the state, which has given rise to incessant killings, maiming, rape cases, kidnapping as well as other unwholesome crimes and criminalities, under the guise of herdsmen/ unknown gunmen attacks.”

“As a matter of utmost priority and concern, we are appealing to the Federal Government to collaborate with the State Government, the Local governments as well as the affected communities to immediately take proactive measures to curb this wanton loss of lives and properties, once and for all.”
“A comprehensive approach towards mitigating these incidences should be drawn out by inculcating peace building mechanism and other good spirited measures that could bring about lasting peace and security to the affected areas.”
“In the meantime, palliatives and reliefs should be accorded to victims to cushion the effects of these unfortunate happenings on them.”
The Forum also took time to acknowledge the efforts of the state governor:
“We want to use this medium to commend His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State for doing the needful, by his recent visits to some of the affected areas to commiserate with the victims of this attacks, particularly in Naka, Gwer-west LGA and Otukpo, Otukpo LGA all in Benue State.”
