Not Fighting For Independence Made Nigerians Docile – Lolo 1

Actress and TV Presenter Omotunde Adebowale—David widely known as Lolo 1, has attributed part of Nigerians’ docile nature to their lack of struggle for independence.

Speaking on News Central’s Jasiri, Lolo1 said that if Nigerians fought to attain sovereignty, they would understand what it means to stand up for something, especially in this current climate where it seems there is a contemptuous relationship between the government and the people.

“I think Nigerians sometimes can be cowardly. When we want to press for something, we do it, but sometimes, I don’t blame them because they’ve never seen it done before, ” she said.

Lolo 1 illustrated her submission from a South African standpoint, saying that because they had to pay to get freedom with their blood, they stood very firm against any anti-people policy of their government.

“But Nigerians seem to just assimilate pain, like the frog in the hot water; they just keep adjusting their temperature until people die.”

“I have seen people say that, even with the hardship, we should just eat eggs. Nigerians will eat one egg at first; then when the hardship hits harder, they will cut the egg into two; when it hits harder, they will cut it into four.”

She said it was high time that Nigerians stopped distracting themselves by looking for escapism and taking face their realities.

“It is like the ostrich that puts its head in the sand; when there’s trouble around, it doesn’t make the trouble go away, and if the ostrich isn’t careful, the problem will clear it out the road, while its head is buried under the ground, and I’m afraid that’s what’s happening with Nigeria.
