Billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans and his co-defendant Joseph Emeka, both charged with murder and attempted kidnap are seeking a plea bargain.
Yusuf Sule, the state lead counsel, informed the court about the plea bargain during their re-arraignment on Thursday.
The duo was re-arraigned before Justice Adenike Cokers of an Ikeja High Court.
Mr Evans and Joseph Emeka were re-arraigned on an amended five-count charge bordering on murder, attempt to murder and conspiracy to commit felony with kidnapping.
News Central reports that Evans was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment in September 2022. Evans and his co-defendant were accused of conspiring and kidnapping Sylvanus Ahanonu Hafia at about 5:30 pm on June 23, 2014, at Kara Street, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos. They were alleged to have captured and detained Hafia and demanded a ransom of $2 million. They pleaded not guilty to the four charges.
The prosecutor said the plea bargain terms were being considered by the Attorney-General of Lagos State, Lawal Pedro.
