    The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has lauded the Nigerian government and Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company for the successful initiation of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS) production. The commendation was announced in a statement released on Wednesday by the union’s General Secretary, Labi Olawale.

    Olawale expressed the union’s pride in the milestone achieved, noting that the entire African continent, especially Nigerians, had eagerly awaited this development. The statement celebrated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Aliko Dangote, and the management team of Dangote Refinery for the historic commencement of PMS production on September 1, 2024.

    NUPENG hailed Dangote’s achievement as a testament to unwavering commitment, innovation, and excellence in the energy sector. The union emphasized that the successful production of PMS at the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery signifies a major leap forward for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.

    NUPENG also highlighted the potential benefits of this development, including job creation, socioeconomic prosperity, and the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. The union pledged to support and protect this significant advancement and expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration with Dangote Refinery.

    The Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, officially announced the commencement of PMS production at a media briefing on Tuesday, marking a significant achievement for the refinery located in Lagos State.
