The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will begin receiving an increased allowance of ₦77,000 from February 2025.
Speaking to the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State, Ahmed confirmed that the Federal Government had approved the increment and included it in the 2025 national budget. The new payment will take effect once the budget is passed.

“The Federal Government has already approved the increment. It is no longer news; we have the approval in our hands. Once the budget is passed, by next month (February), you will start receiving ₦77,000 instead of ₦33,000,” he stated.
Advice to Corps Members
General Ahmed advised corps members to uphold good conduct, avoid misconduct, and remain dedicated to their future aspirations. He emphasised that diligence, honesty, perseverance, and faith in God are key to a successful life.
He also encouraged them to respect the cultures and traditions of their host communities and integrate quickly after leaving the orientation camps. Additionally, he urged them to initiate personal or group Community Development Service (CDS) projects to contribute positively to their host communities.
