Obasanjo, Others Head for DRC-Nigeria Business Summit (News Central TV)

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has arrived in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in preparation for the DRC/Nigeria Business Summit that will begin there on Saturday.

The former President, the Executive Secretary of the National Action Committee on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and Olusegun Awolowo, the former executive director and chief executive officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) between 2013 and 2022, boarded the two-hour chartered flight to Kinshasa early on Wednesday morning.

The governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, and Wale Adeosun, a business tycoon and well-known industrialist in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, accompanied the former president on the trip, according to a release from his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi.

Prior to the summit, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, the President of the Council, Jimi Lawal, and Dr. Debo Akande, a representative of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, were present. Dr. Sanginga is a former Director General of the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA).

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State and vice president of the DRC/Nigeria Business Council, Aliko Dangote of the Dangote Group, and Stella Okoli of Emzor Paracetamol are among those who are anticipated to attend the conference.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who is leaving office, expressed his delight with the Council’s formation during the most recent meeting, which was held in Lagos in December. He emphasised that the Council would help to further strengthen trade ties between the two nations.

No less than 30 prospective investors from the health, education, agriculture, communications, power, and finance sectors will meet with their DRC counterparts, according to Ambassador Leke Adebiyi, the Deputy Secretary of the DRC-Nigeria Business Council.
