Odinga's Running Mate Slot: Kalonzo Counsels Loyalists Against Rigidity (News Central TV)

Leader of Wiper Democratic Movement, Kalonzo Musyoka has called on his loyalists to cease their demands that he should be made Raila Odinga’s running mate in the August 9 general elections.

The former vice President and 2007 presidential candidate said the constant demands were not working to his advantage, as they were gradually becoming noise, which if not addressed, could make clowns out of them.

“Stop the debate on what Kalonzo will become. Leave that to God and be confident. There is a way you can make noise until it creates the impression that we lack confidence,” he spoke at the funeral of Wiper Parliamentary hopeful, David Mutuku’s father.

Musyoka said putting him on the deputy position was not a question that should be debated, given his qualifications and experience. He added that he had in the past, worked with Mr Odinga, and knew that “a Raila-Kalonzo ticket would be a sure bet.”

“People know the obvious truth but they don’t want to do it. That is the folly of Kenyan politics. We all live in this country and we know the winning formula,” he said.

Meanwhile, vice president William Ruto, condemned Raila Odinga’s intention to invite Kalonzo for a panel interview as a prerequisite for choosing him as a running mate. He accused Odinga of trying to bring embarrassment Kalonzo.

“Though we are competitors, to subject Mr. Musyoka to some humiliating “interview” is impunity,” he tweeted.
