Voters in parts of Ogun State expressed frustration on Saturday as election materials and officials failed to arrive on time for the local government elections.

In Ward 8, Ilisan, Ikenne Local Government Area, voters at polling units 01, 05, and 13 were still waiting hours after voting was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

Voters at Unit 22, Ward 12, Abeokuta South, arrived early but experienced long delays due to the late arrival of voting materials and officials. Frustrated by the wait, some voters left.

Similar delays were reported across other areas, raising concerns about voter turnout and the overall electoral process.

Observers also noted that movement restrictions meant to facilitate the election were largely ineffective, as vehicles and motorcycles moved freely.

Security personnel, including officers from the Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, were on hand to maintain order.

The delays have led to calls for the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) to address the logistical lapses to ensure voters are not disenfranchised.
