Nigerian hip-hop icon Olamide recently shared the announcement of his new project, ‘Ikigai’. For over a decade, Olamide has captivated listeners with his music, solidifying his place as one of the greatest Nigerian artists of the modern era.
On June 26, 2024, Baddo took to social media to reveal the news. The announcement came just hours after his surprise performance at Davido and Chioma’s wedding.
The 7-track EP, ‘Ikigai’, which is a Japanese term meaning “a reason to live “, features YBNL superstars Fireboy and Asake on track 3, ‘Uptown Disco’. He also collaborated with former YBNL associates Pheelz, Young Jonn, Lil Kesh on track 7, ‘Synchro System’, and appearance from Sabri on track 4.
Before the official announcement, the artist teased a snippet of ‘Hello Habibi’ on his Instagram story, which is now known to be track 5 on the EP.
This surprise release is particularly exciting as he had previously stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account in 2023 that his last album, ‘Unruly’, might be his final project.
His consistent delivery of hit records continues to impress, with his last project featuring popular tracks like ‘Trumpet’ feat CKay, ‘New Religion’ featuring Asake, and ‘Jinja’.
